Well, it has been an interesting couple of days. Yesterday was actually pretty typical. It started off with PT, and then we had training for most of the day. After dinner, we had our usual evening meeting with LT Schardt, SFC AB, and us squad leaders. During the meeting, they told us that we were going to have another damn layout, which we needed to start preparing for immediately after the meeting. It was probably about 8 P.M. when we started putting our gear out. It was weapons and other sensitive items (night vision, lasers, etc.) and a few other select pieces of equipment. 1SG was being a real dick during the layout, and the guys in 3rd platoon were being real assholes about everything too.
I sent some photos out today, and got several letters ready to mail.
We still haven’t started patrolling yet, and there is no word on when we will. The latest bullshit going around is that our brigade command sergeant major (CSM) now wants us to patrol our sector without rounds chambered in our weapons. Un-fucking-believable. I’m not sure what the fuck he’s thinking, but I’m betting it’s something like career welfare over soldier safety.
