My Christmas wasn’t terrible, I guess.
I was annoyed by everyone who said, “Merry Christmas.” I wanted to say, “Go fuck yourself,” in response. Bah Humbug!
We zonked PT, and slept until about 7:30, and we had the morning free. We did finally do some training in the afternoon.
Our company commander, command sergeant major, and battalion commander all came and talked to us. CSM Ordonio is a funny guy. He was the commandant of the air assault school at Schofield Barracks, when I went through. I remember thinking he was a little crazy, but hilarious. He forced us to sing “Jingle Bells” as loudly as we could.
This evening after dinner we had our White Elephant gift exchange. I think everyone had a good time. I wore my Santa surfer aloha shirt.
After we were done with our platoon gift exchange, I called home. I got to talk to Jacob while they were opening gifts. I was really happy to be able to at least be a part of their Christmas at home too, even if I couldn’t be there.
